Today was a quieter day. We went for a bit of a bike ride this morning and rode past the maritime museum - we could see the replica of the Amsterdam (ship).
Such a gorgeous ship! |
3 red vehicles, one parking spot! |
We stopped at the Westerkerk and climbed the tower. 17th century - so old!! We climbed halfway, to about 40 metres.
Mum liked the ancient bells |
The view from the balcony halfway up |
A beautiful view of a canal |
No good at selfies, but here's one from the balcony |
The balcony is level with the top of the sign on the left |
We listened as the bells of the tower rang for an hour, and there was a guy in a boat on the canal that joined in on a trumpet and a horn, and they did a couple of duets!
Such wonderful music! |
In the late arvo I
finally had a beer at the brewery.
Brewerij IJ Plzen - might be my favourite so far |
For tea we rode on the bikes to a restaurant on top of the library - about 7 storeys up. Some lovely food, and a lovely view over Amsterdam. It's off in the morning to Belgium, so time to pack up our things. Amsterdam as been wonderful, and I'd love to come back here again.
As always,
Kiri
