Northbound [Leaves' Eyes]

Well, after what seems like an eternity on planes and in airports, Mum and I are safely in Amsterdam. Let me fill you in.

We arrived at Changi Airport, Singapore, with an eight hour stopover. We took a free bus tour and saw the city for a couple of hours - we even got to get out and take some photos. Singapore was very hot and humid (much different to Ballarat at the moment!) and the combination of modern technology and traditional culture is spectacular.

Singapore! A water fountain, super trees, and...a boat on three buildings...

We arrived at Amsterdam, Netherlands, this morning around 7am. After dropping off our luggage, we did a canal boat tour of Amsterdam. It was spectacular. The city is riddled with canals, the canals are lined with boats...definitely not in Australia anymore. We walked around the Red Light District, saw a lot of beautiful buildings, and a lot of people!

Anyone want a boat?

Speaking of lots, here are some things I found a lot of in Amsterdam:

1) This one's a tie between bicycles and water. Both are everywhere, both are in between you and where you want to be;
2) Beautiful old buildings. Seeing years on buildings like 1633 astounds me.
3) This one would have to be weed smoke. No wonder the Dutch are a happy people...
4) People!!! All over the place, and all speaking English.

A beautiful old church
Here I will leave you for now, our accommodation is right near a brewery and I plan to sample their beer tonight. ;)
